Clarence Thomas grew up in poverty so extreme we find it hard to imagine today. But he had a role model in his stern, yet loving, grandfather. He called him, Daddy. Daddy could be very demanding, and he made young Clarence work extra hard, in the farm, in the house, and in his school too.

But most of all Daddy taught him by example to be an honest, God fearing, hard working patriot.
